While lounging on the beach has its perks, maybe you want something a little more out of your vacation. Here are some ideas to get you up and moving in Cabo San Lucas!

If you are planning a trip to Cabo San Lucas, there are plenty of activities to choose from. From snorkeling to horseback rides, if you enjoy the outdoors, there is plenty for you to do in Cabo. Below are just a few of the many options available to you.

Get Out on the Water

The waters surrounding Cabo offer some of the best adventures you can have. For example, snorkeling in the Sea of Cortez is a memorable experience you simply can’t miss.

With thousands of tropical fish and other interesting wildlife in the turquoise waters, you will have a once in a lifetime experience. Water temperatures are moderate year-round, so you never have to worry about it being too cold to snorkel.

Another popular water activity in Cabo is whale watching. Whales have gone to the Sea of Cortez for centuries to give birth. After feeding in the cold arctic waters, the whales make their way south to Mexico’s Baja California to nurse their young calves and to mate.

The whales migrate northward with their calves in the spring. During the winter is the best time to see these impressive animals in their natural habitat!

A trip to Cabo is not complete without a sunset cruise. You can either take a private or a shared sunset cruise. The departure times change according to the actual time of sunset and daylight savings time.

While enjoying the spectacular sunset, the guests can enjoy Mexican snacks and a selection of beverages from the bar.

The clear waters of the Sea of Cortez are calling you to explore them. Scuba diving can be done as an all-day activity. These dives are at Los Cabos in the most interesting and popular areas for snorkeling and diving.

These are locations where it is easy to dive and where the dive experiences are rewarding. You can go on a combined cruise where you will be provided with a certified instructor or guide for your adventure.

Go for a Ride

There are a wide variety of “riding” activities available in Cabo. Whether you are an animal lover or more of a gearhead, there’s something for everyone!

If you’re a fan of motorsports, you can take off across the desert landscape of Cabo San Lucas with an ATV adventure. You can go off-roading through canyons, mountains, and sand creeks while enjoying magnificent ocean views.

Animal lovers, there’s something for you, too. Go on a horseback riding adventure and enjoy the Pacific Coast landscapes on a horseback ride. You can visit a Baja Californian ranch to get the right horse, then venture out from Cabo San Lucas for an extended ride lasting a couple of hours or longer.

For a slower pace, go on a hiking adventure with a donkey companion. For centuries, donkeys have been used to maneuver the challenging terrain of the area. Enjoy a hike with a donkey and see places that you might not otherwise be able to access.

While it’s a broader interpretation of the word “ride”, ziplining might appeal to those who want to feel the wind in their hair. Those who are the most adventurous might want to ride tandem with family and friends in a zipline experience. While there are different options, some places offer up to a four-hour adventure on steel cables that are designed to offer safety and fun for participants.

Get Out and Walk

Sometimes there’s just no beating where your own two feet can take you. If you’re a nature lover, go with a nature guide for a hiking adventure in Fox Canyon, a hidden jewel of Los Cabos.

The magnificent scenery must be accessed by hiking through some challenging terrain. You can learn about the plants, wildlife, and landscape of the area. The hike includes a visit to a waterfall and series of pools where you might want to go for a swim.

Another option is to see some local color with a walking tour in town. Many tours pass through Miraflores Village, where you can see craftsmen and artisans at work. You will be able to visit the House of Culture where you can see examples of clothing used in the town throughout the years. You can also see Santiago, which is situated around an Oasis.

There you can stop in at the regional zoo, which is the Baja South’s only zoo. You can visit the Mission, which was visited by celebrities such as John Wayne.

If you are active and looking for adventure, there are plenty of fun things for active families to do in Cabo San Lucas. Take the time to research your options, and you’ll be able to find something that appeals to every member of your family.
